The teen room and video and audio collections are empty, except for dozens of videotapes that librarians either didn’t want or couldn’t fit into their new home. ![]() The wood-paneled Wangenheim Room, once the home of the library’s special collections, is an empty space. She led an hourlong tour of the two sub-basements, where most of the library collection was once housed but the shelves and archival newspaper bundles remain, and the three above-ground levels. She had heard from only a handful of people beforehand. ![]() “I’m really excited by the interest!” exclaimed Sherry Brooks, the Civic San Diego host for a two-hour look-see by architects, engineers, developers and a few curious members of the public.
